Questions teachers ask
What do teachers wear to work?
Most teachers wear business casual: blouses, knit tops or collared shirts, chinos or dress pants, cardigans, midi skirts and dresses, and flat, supportive shoes. Jeans are common on Fridays or spirit days where the district allows them, and PE teachers wear athletic clothes.
What are the best shoes for teachers who stand all day?
Shoes with arch support, a cushioned insole and a low, wide heel. CCOHS guidance for standing work recommends exactly those features. Loafers and supportive flats suit strict codes; clogs, leather sneakers and cushioned walking sneakers suit business casual and casual codes.
Can teachers wear jeans?
It depends on the district. Some ban jeans for staff (Durand-Arkansaw School District in Wisconsin lists blue jeans with T-shirts and athletic clothing). Others allow them on set days: Mesquite ISD in Texas allows jeans on Fridays with a school shirt and no rips.
How many outfits does a teacher need?
A capsule of about 15 pieces that all match (3 layers, 5 tops, 4 bottoms, 3 pairs of shoes) covers four weeks of school days without repeating an exact outfit.
